International Education and Training

project list (Updates to the progress of each project are made on 2/15, 5/15, 8/15 and 11/15)

International education and training from the TaiwanICDF shares Taiwan’s own development experiences with developing partner countries around the world. Our aim is to help these partner countries cultivate and nurture a talented pool of human resources.

To achieve this objective, our International Education and Training Department performs a range of interconnected operations. Our in-depth, professional workshops are dedicated to contemporary trends in development, while our higher education scholarship program draws on expertise at Taiwanese universities to strengthen know-how in critical disciplines. We also cooperate with a number of international organizations on training projects.

Taiwan–Europe Talent Exchange and Cooperation Initiative

Strengthen exchanges of shared values and policy understanding between Taiwan and Europe by inviting participants from various countries to Taiwan for training and study programs. Participants will be encouraged to organize Taiwan-related activities and share their experiences upon returning to their home countries, thereby expanding Taiwan’s support network in Europe and fostering a sustainable, pro-Taiwan learning community. This initiative aims to consolidate and deepen existing Taiwan–Europe exchanges while further enhancing Taiwan’s international cooperation and visibility on the global stage.

Professional Workshops

Drawing on Taiwan’s own social and economic development, our workshops are designed to strengthen human resources in partner countries. They cover a range of contemporary development issues such as trade and industry, agriculture, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), health care and environmental protection. Participants include staff of government agencies, high-ranking officials or NGO workers from our developing partner countries.

Each year, we organize up to 20 workshops for around 500 participants.

We also share Taiwan's development experiences in the agricultural, SME and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sectors by cooperating with multilateral and bilateral organizations such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Agency for International Trade Information and Cooperation, and the Interchange Association Japan. Together, we have conducted various human resources projects, professional training workshops and regional seminars within our partner countries, with curricula designed to address local and regional development issues.

International Higher Education Scholarship Program

Initiated in 1998, the International Higher Education Scholarship Program enables talented young individuals to come to Taiwan for higher education, providing them with full financial support for tuition and living expenses.

Over the years, the scope of the program has been expanded. The courses offered through the program to scholarship recipients are designed to address the development needs of our partner countries. These courses focus on issues such as agriculture, public health and medicine, education, information and communication techonology, environmental protection and sustainability, and small and medium enterprises.

The TaiwanICDF has collaborated with a number of prestigious Taiwanese universities to offer scholarship for various English-taught degree programs, including those at the master's and doctoral levels.

We aim to nurture talent in studnets who can contribute to social development and economic growth in their home countries.

Vocational Training Project

In alignment with our diplomatic policies, the TaiwanICDF promote the " Vocational training program for Allied and Friendly Countries," emphasizing the acceleration of industrial transformation and upgrading in these countries. The program is designed to match the regional development characteristics of each partner country, offering a variety of vocational training courses. The training scope includes traditional livelihood industries as well as new professional technical and vocational training programs, taking into account the needs of industrial upgrading and economic development. This initiative aims to collaboratively address major global issues, while also highlighting Taiwan's strengths in digital technology, green energy, smart agriculture, and the circular economy within these industries.

TaiwanICDF Alumni Societies

TaiwanICDF Alumni Societies are designed to build on the various education and training programs that we have organized over the years. Membership is automatically granted to anyone who visits Taiwan to participate in our training programs, and helps to foster a sense of unity for participants once they have returned home. We offer funding to support the operations and activities of local societies, through which alumni gain access to a network of support from the TaiwanICDF and other fellow alumni as well as resources to support their continued professional development.

At present, we sponsor the activities of 27 TaiwanICDF Alumni Societies in 26 countries.
