The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in the Philippines. It is a long standing and well established international agricultural research institution in Asia. The IRRI aims to reduce poverty and hunger through rice experimentation and variety improvement. It promotes agricultural research through international cooperation and provides relevant information, thereby serving as an entry platform for rice knowledge; meanwhile, it also assists with and provides genetic materials for rice-related experimental research.
