TaiwanICDF and K&H Help Youth from Allied and Friendly Countries Acquire Skills through E-Learning

The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) signed a cooperation contract with K&H Mfg. Co. Ltd. on February 3, 2021 to optimize software for Technical and Vocational Education and Teaching (TVET). This public-private partnership integrates the original software developed by the TaiwanICDF and the professional information and communications technology of K&H. The collaboration aims to assist young people from allied and friendly countries to continue studying in the post-COVID-19 era. The optimized software will serve as an important capacity-building tool for TVET, responding to the development needs of our partner countries for professional talents.

The TaiwanICDF and K&H expect to launch the software in 2021. The content covers four main technical subjects including electrical machinery, electronics, mechanics, and auto repair, and will be available in Mandarin, English and Spanish. The software incorporates academic materials with dynamic simulation teaching, providing a diverse and interactive experience for students. It also creates a digital environment for self-education that combines virtual and real content so that teachers and students can plan lessons beforehand, track learning progress in real-time, and evaluate the impact afterwards anytime and anywhere.

TVET is a key driving force for growth in the era of Taiwan's economic take-off. Considering the global COVID-19 pandemic has not been alleviated, the closure of schools in various countries has seriously affected student learning, making distance and online teaching an essential development trend in the post-pandemic era. Furthermore, networks and mobile devices in partner countries are also more popular than in the past. The TaiwanICDF will continue to actively utilize Taiwan’s private sector technology to assist allied and friendly countries to strengthen the human resources needed for national development through distance teaching methods, overcoming time and space constraints to allow young students to gain skills through online learning in the comfort of their home.
