The Annual Review and Planning Meeting of the St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Agriculture, held on March 7, 2012, was attended by approximately 150 people, including government ministers and department heads, diplomatic envoys, the FAO’s regional representative, representatives of international organizations and farmers’ organizations, and members of the local farming community. Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in St. Kitts and Nevis and the Taiwan Technical Mission also attended the event.

At the meeting the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris, Minister of Agriculture, thanked representatives of various countries for assistance provided to the local agriculture sector, and praised the contributions of the Taiwanese embassy and the Taiwan Technical Mission in facilitating agricultural development in St. Kitts and Nevis. The minister also went on to present Mars Shiue, leader of the Taiwan Technical Mission, with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition and thanks for Taiwan’s assistance, one of two awards he presented during the event.
