Project Description：

After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the Republic of China (Taiwan) worked with the Haitian government to build New Hope Village in Savane Diane, relocating displaced people from the country’s capital city, Port-au-Prince.
To assist the village’s new residents to settle, the TaiwanICDF conducted a series of projects:
1.Agricultural production project: the project aims to develop 322.5 hector farmland to produce crops such as maize, sorghum, peanut, rice and beans. The corps can be the daily diet for the beneficiaries. The extra product can be sold in exchange for cash income.
2.Home garden project: vegetables produced by the project could offer the beneficiaries more nutrition to reach a balanced diet.
3.Hen breeding project: project under reforming.
4.Bamboo handicraft training: train the beneficiaries to produce bamboo furniture and handicraft products. The products can be used in daily life or be sold in exchange for cash income.
5.Farmers’ organization training project: giving the New Hope Village residents regular trainings on organizational formation and agricultural producing skills, to increase the harmony in the village.
6.New Hope Village water supply system project: build a system which can offer the new hope village residents’ daily use water and also support the irrigation of 50 hectares of farmland.

Executing Agency：Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development of Haiti

Implementation Arrangement：Taiwan ICDF dispatch one project coordinator and one agriculture expert to Haiti for assistance in executing this project, especially in technical extension works.
