Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, Julio OROZCO visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on August 5, 2024.
The Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF, Amb. Dr. Charles C. Li, warmly welcomed the Vice Minister. The meeting began with a briefing video about TaiwanICDF activities, which provided the Vice Minister with a deeper understanding of the organization's main tasks. Both sides then discussed the future bilateral cooperation projects.
The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include “Early Warning and Disaster Management System Project”, “Project for the Promotion of Medical Technology for Improvement of Maternal-Neonatal Health in Guatemala (Phase Ⅱ)”, “Corn Production Resilience Strengthening Project”, and “Regional project for the Prevention and Control of Fusarium TR4 of Banana in Central America”. In addition, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches Mandarin teachers and servicemen to assist with implementing these projects under the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program.
The TaiwanICDF also regularly invests in building Guatemala’s professional resources. To date, 316 Guatemalans have received training in the TaiwanICDF Professional Workshop Program, while 188 Guatemalan students have received funding from the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program and studied in Taiwan.
