Foundation for Defense of Democracies Delegation Visits the TaiwanICDF
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a U.S. think tank, visited Taiwan at the invitation of the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance. Accompanied by representatives from the Academy, Clifford May, the president of FDD led a 3-member delegation visited the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on July 31, the TaiwanICDF extended our warm welcome to the members of the delegation.
The FDD delegation was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF, Mr. Alex L.J Shyy. The meeting began with a briefing video about TaiwanICDF activities, which provided the delegation with a deeper understanding of the organization's work. Both sides then exchanged views on various topics, including development finance as a strategic tool, public-private partnerships and risk diversification, inclusive financing, and support for SMEs.
This visit demonstrated that both Taiwan and the United States take the development finance as a method of economic aid, and also a strategic tool for building partnerships and strengthening supply chain resilience. The meeting also highlighted the shared goals of both sides in promoting positive and transparent financing models, combating potential coercive economic practices, and supporting global democratic values.
