This year’s Workshop on Taiwan’s Media Development, running from September 7-20, 2011, will introduce partner countries to Taiwanese media industries and includes an overview of the development of the sector on the island.

Joining the workshop this year will be 27 participants from 25 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, Central Asia and Africa. Participants will discuss how a new generation of reporting tools are becoming available to those in the media and learn how the industry remains a key driver of social diversification. As well as learning about these issues through specific case studies, participants will also make site visits to relevant government institutions and outstanding media enterprises. The workshop will place a special emphasis on broadcast media and the social responsibilities that such media carries with it. The workshop also includes a variety of supplementary cultural visits to showcase the Taiwan’s “soft power.”
