Paraguayan Minister of Information Technology and Communication Visits the TaiwanICDF

Minister Gustavo Villate, of Paraguay’s Ministry of Information Technology and Communication, led a three-member delegation to visit the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on March 19, 2024.
The secretary general of the TaiwanICDF, Amb. Dr. Charles C. Li, warmly welcomed the delegation. Aside from Minister Villate, the visitors also included Jorge Daniel Duarte Rolón, president of the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University, and the minister’s advisor, Horacio José Caniza Vierci while exchanging views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Paraguay.
The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Project to Strengthen Capacity for Commercial Production of Orchids, the Health Information Management Efficiency Enhancement Project in Paraguay (Phase 3), the MSEs Re-lending Project, the Project to Strengthen Capacity to Support Development of MSMEs, and the Surubi Commercial Production Project. In addition, the TaiwanICDF dispatches volunteers, Mandarin teachers and service members to assist with project implementation as part of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program
The TaiwanICDF also regularly invests in building the country’s professional resources. To date, 400 Paraguyans have received training in the TaiwanICDF Professional Workshop Program, while 41 Paraguayan students have received funding from the TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program and studied in Taiwan.
