Amb. Charles Li, Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF, and Professor Emeritus Dr. Pongsak Angkasith, Chairman of the RPF Research and Development Committee, signed the fifth agricultural cooperation memorandum on July 25, 2023. The document was signed at RPF’s headquarters in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and represents a milestone in Taiwan and Thailand’s ongoing partnership in agricultural affairs.

As part of the agreement, the TaiwanICDF will implement two projects in northern Thailand, Development and Cultivation Improvement under Precision Farming and Social Marketing Promotion of Royal Project Foundation Products. Goals include supporting the RPF by introducing Taiwan’s smart farming system and guiding RPF personnel in precision agriculture. To accomplish these aims, the TaiwanICDF will help RPF to form its climate-resilient strategies and promote optimal fertilizer, pesticide, and irrigation practices by training staff in the use of smart agricultural technologies and data analysis techniques. As a result, local farmers in northern Thailand are expected to enjoy reduced costs, improved quality, and higher yields through resilient agriculture.

In addition, the TaiwanICDF will prioritize building production and marketing capabilities for RPF personnel. The TaiwanICDF will work side-by-side with the RPF to ensure adequate crop production, improve crop quality and safety, reinforce product differentiation, bolster sales with new market segments, and support disadvantaged farmers in mountainous areas. The agreement will also strengthen RPF’s image in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sphere and help it meet the needs of producers and consumers.
