Project Description:
Indonesian President Joko Widodo proposed the "Food Estate" policy in 2020, which is one of the 2020-2024 national strategic plans, hoping to increase Indonesia's national food production and reduce dependence on food imports, and force on area of North Sumatra and Central Kalimantan. Minister Luhut Panjaitan of the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination hopes that Taiwan can become the partner of the North Sumatra Province grain production base plan, and proposes this project, with 5 Hectares of land is used as a demonstration area, based on the production demonstration and farmer education and training center built by us, to gradually train local farmers to improve production skills, establish correct cultivation models, improve the technical capabilities of farmers in the reclamation area, increase profits and increase crop output value, The main tasks of the plan include: increasing the yield per unit area of garlic and shallots by establishing demonstration fields and providing technical guidance, reorganizing cooperatives, and developing high-potential crops and sales channels.

Project Objectives:

Current Progress:
To the end of March 2024, the following activities have been completed:
- Establish a demonstration area, handle yield estimation (0.3 hectares), shallot cultivation (1.7 hectares) and 2 garlic cultivations (3 hectares).
- Counseling 30 households in the reclamation area with about 28 hectares of farmers' field technical guidance and management.
- Hold on 8 workshops.
- Completed the price survey of shallots and sweet peas (rotation crops).
- Matching orders from 2 vegetable and fruit distributors, and cooperate with 1 distributor to purchase small scale farmer's products.
Project Performance:
Increase the average income per hectare of garlic and shallots for tutoring farmers by 2 times.
