July Marks Appointment of Amb. Charles Li as New TaiwanICDF Secretary General

The TaiwanICDF is pleased to announce the appointment of Ambassador Charles Li as its new Secretary General on July 6, 2023.

Secretary General Li brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. In 2007, he was a member of the working group responsible for re-establishing diplomatic relations with St. Lucia while serving as assistant director general of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After diplomatic relations resumed, he promoted bilateral cooperation between Taiwan and St. Lucia, as well as other countries under his purview, as Minister of the Embassy of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) in St. Lucia.

Secretary General Li also served as Minister of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, Consul General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai, India, and Ambassador of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Myanmar, achieving impressive results in building diplomatic relations with these countries.

During the July 5 handover ceremony, Secretary General Li noted his extensive engagement with TaiwanICDF staff during his previous overseas assignments, which he said fostered a deep understanding of the organization’s work. He then emphasized the importance of stability and excellence in the TaiwanICDF’s future endeavors. Finally, he stressed the need for a relaxed yet dedicated working atmosphere while pursuing international aid work, which he believes will contribute to friendly international relations.

In his new role, Secretary General Li will lead the TaiwanICDF in its continued pursuit of international cooperation and development, fostering strong partnerships and contributing to the betterment of global communities.
