International Center for Tropical Agricultural Research (CIAT)
The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) was established in 1967 and is headquartered in Colombia. The initial focus of its research was on improving crop yields to help small farmers improve their lives. At present, the main focus is on food security, and we will continue to develop crop cultivation technologies as well as agricultural production norms, intervention models and policies, with a view to gradually reducing the impact of food insecurity while transitioning farmers from survival mode to profit-oriented businesses targeting sustainable agriculture. At the same time, this helps to strengthen resilience to extreme climate change at the national, regional, and community levels.
