Project Description:

The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) has cooperated with Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) to implement the Digital Health Innovation for COVID-19 Response in India Project since September 2020. This phase one project was completed on May 31, 2021, and successfully assisted healthcare workers from 75 targeted primary healthcare (PHC) facilities in Ranchi District of Jharkhand State to use digital technology to deliver quality services and comply with infection prevention and control standards to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, COVID-19 is still raging in India, and the healthcare system in Jharkhand State still needs further assistance. Hence, the TaiwanICDF continues to work with Tdh to implement the Digital Health Innovation for COVID-19 Response in India Project (Phase 2) to provide healthcare workers from 120 PHCs in Ranchi, Jharkhand with ongoing support to respond to COVID-19 by utilizing technology and further improve their capacity. Overall, the project included the following:
1. At least 100 HCWs from 120 PHC facilities had utilized the training modules provided in the HCWs training and monitoring tool for COVID-19 response.
2. 80% of HCWs frequently accessed the chatbot application to receive information on COVID-19 FAQs.
3. At least 60,000 COVID-19 cases suspected cases (symptomatic and asymptomatic) from 120 PHC facilities had been registered and managed by a digitized screening and triage tool.
4. 80% of the users stated satisfaction and usefulness of the digitized vaccine delivery system to verify and follow up for receipt of vaccines.

Project Objectives:Healthcare workers from the target PHC facilities deliver quality services and comply with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executing Agency:Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh)

Implementation Arrangement:During the project implementation, the TaiwanICDF will invite Taiwan’s IT expert(s) to work with Tdh to review and provide support and input during the application adaptation phase of incorporating the vaccine delivery function in the screening and triage application. Tdh will implement the proposed activities and liaise with local government units and stakeholders.
