TaiwanICDF is collaborating with Korea-based Good Neighbors and US-based Dimagi Inc. to co-host the Webinar on Strengthening the Public Health System for Maintaining Essential Health Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The World Health Organization has designated 2021 the International Year of Health and Care Workers, and launched a year-long campaign under the theme "Protect. Invest. Together." In order to echo this theme and continue expanding Taiwan's visibility in the global public health sector, the TaiwanICDF will host the Webinar on Strengthening the Public Health System for Maintaining Essential Health Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic on May 25, 2021 at 19:00 Taipei Time/13:00 Geneva Time. The webinar will be co-hosted in collaboration with Korea-based INGO Good Neighbors and US-based social enterprise Dimagi Inc. The objective of this webinar is to emphasize the importance of supporting health and care workers to maintain essential health services during the pandemic.

The event will feature a panel of public health experts. Dr. Philip Y. C. Lo, Deputy Director-General of Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, will detail Taiwan’s prevention and control strategies in fighting against COVID-19. Dr. Hoon Sang Lee, visiting professor of public policy at Kyung Hee University, will discuss the global challenges that health and care workers are facing. Dr. Pai-Po Lee, Deputy Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF, will share how the TaiwanICDF and our partner countries work together to protect health and care workers and continue to provide health services during the pandemic. Finally, Dr. Neal Lesh, Chief Strategy Officer of Dimagi Inc., will analyze how investing in modern technology improves the efficiency of health services and vaccine delivery.

COVID-19 continues to devastate countries globally, and has severely challenged and impacted public health systems all over the world. Health and care workers in particular were the first ones to bear great risks and pressures in fighting against the pandemic. Through the participation and discussion of experts and people from different backgrounds, this webinar will advance more diverse thoughts and actions on how we can protect, invest in, and work together with our health and care workers to maintain essential health services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar will be conducted in English and open to anyone interested in the topic. The event will not require registration and will be live broadcasted on YouTube, with Slido used for Q&A during the webinar. All aforementioned weblinks are included below and will be shared on the TaiwanICDF’s official Facebook page on the date of the event as well.
