Project Name:Raising Competency of Farmers’ Horticultural Produces Project in Thailand

Project Description:

The current income of farmers in the northern part of Thailand is deeply affected by the unstable supply of seedlings and the lack of competitiveness of the products, resulting in a technical gap in the quality, output and types of the current local products.The “Raising Competency of Farmers’ Horticultural Produces Project in Thailand” aims at vegetable and flower crops and assists farmers in strengthening their innovative R&D and production management capabilities to enhance the competitiveness of products.

Implementation End Date:2022-12-31

Project Objectives:

1. Strengthen innovation and research and development capabilities
(1) Establish vegetable selection and seed production system.
(2) Establish Chrysanthemum flower breeding, healthy seedling breeding and cultivation management system.
(3) Research and development and application promotion of agricultural biological agents.

2. Enhance industrial technology
(1) Conduct technical trainings for RPF staff.
(2) Dispatch Taiwanese experts to Thailand for technical exchange.

Current Progress:

To the end of December 2022, the following activities have been completed:
1. Completed the production and collection of F1 seeds for cross-breeding of lettuce and tomato.
2. Introducing Taiwan 28 Chrysanthemum Varieties for cross-breeding and completed selection.
3. Produced new crops Melon (green meat, white meat), cherry tomatoes.
4. Produced 198.75 kilograms of Trichoderma Tricho-004 (the product obtained from the preliminary cooperative project research) and distributing to 2 research farms and 7 agricultural development centers as a starter to be multiplied to2,442.75 kilograms of Trichoderma Tricho-004 fresh cultures and to distribute to 848 farmers.
5. Refurbishment of 2 seed production greenhouses.

6. Completion of 2 Biologics Promotion Manuals
