The President-elect of Guatemala, H.E. Dr. Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei, accompanied by a nine-member delegation including the Minister-designate of Economy Hon. Roberto Antonio Malouf Morales, Minister-designate of Education Hon. Claudia Patricia Ruiz de Estrada, Minister-designate of Public Health and Social Assistance Hon. Hugo Roberto Monroy Castillo and Minister-designate of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Hon. Oscar David Bonilla Aguirre visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on October 21, 2019.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Timothy T. Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed H.E. Dr. Giammattei and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Guatemala.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Project for Promotion of Medical Technology for Improvement of Maternal-Neonatal Health, Project for the Strengthening of Marketing Capacity in Family Farming, Bamboo Industries Project, Project for the Revitalization of Crafts and Youth Entrepreneurship in Antigua Guatemala and Surrounding Municipalities in Sacatepéquez and Project for the Capacity Strengthening to Support the Incubation and Entrepreneurship for MIPYMEs. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 280 participants from Guatemala have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 133 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
