TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Alex L. J Shyy, gave a presentation at the session on “The Future of Green Financing” of the International Beirut Energy Forum, hosted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on September 27, 2019 in Lebanon. Speakers included Mr. Miroslav Maly, Associate Director, Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Team, EBRD, UK; Ms. Yvonne Mitschka, Analyst, Green Economy Transition, EBRD, UK; Mr. Georges Andraos, Head of International Banking Division of FransaBank, Lebanon; Ms. Layal Nabhan, Professor, Energy and Finance, HEC Paris School of Management. All speakers exchanged opinions and shared experiences with the audience in green financing from different perspectives.

Speaking at this seminar, after a brief introduction about the mission and operations of the TaiwanICDF, Mr. Shyy said the adoption of green finance has become a growing trend around the world and addressed the importance of the commitment to green development. With the TaiwanICDF’s focus on sustainable development, his presentation also shared examples of TaiwanICDF green financing projects featuring different development strategies and models, as well as our long-standing partnership with the EBRD in green financing, including efforts in energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate resilience. The presentation concluded with the emphasis that Taiwan is willing to work hand-in-hand with the international community to develop a more sustainable future.
