Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Visits the TaiwanICDF
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala H.E. Amb. Jairo David Estrada Barrios and his wife Mrs. Mellissa Gabriela Mateo Corzo led a three-member delegation to visit the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on June 20, 2019.
TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Mr. Alex L. J. Shyy warmly welcomed H.E. Amb. Estrada and the delegation. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Guatemala.
The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Project for Promotion of Medical Technology for Improvement of Maternal-Neonatal Health, Project for the Strengthening of Marketing Capacity in Family Farming and Bamboo Industries Project. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.
To date, a total of 276 participants from Guatemala have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 119 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
