Project Name:Intelligent Bus Management and Monitoring System Project for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Project status:Completed projects
Cooperating Country:Caribbean, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Project Description:
Public security incidents in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) occur frequently. The traditional security control mechanisms have been unable to effectively check the situation of each monitoring point. Establishing an intelligent video surveillance system to improve public security services and urban safety management has become an important issue for the Government of SVG. Also, the bus is the main form of public transportation for people in SVG. However, there are no public bus management mechanisms and regulations at present. The SVG government hopes to use Taiwan’s experience in transportation management and the development of information and communications technology (ICT) to introduce Public Transportation Management, Advanced Mass Transportation Services (APTS), Advanced Traffic Management Services (ATMS) and other technologies through a new technical cooperation project.
The project will use Taiwan's experience in public transport management, APTS and intelligent video surveillance technology to assist SVG in setting a clear overall strategy for public transport development, introduce the latest technologies from manufacturers, and train personnel's professional capabilities. By closing the gap in the administrative, technical and professional aspects, the project will strengthen the functions of the bus management system and support the information system, improve the efficiency of government bus management, shorten the waiting time of the people, integrate external cooperation resources, and use diverse incomes such as advertising and public interest cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals.
