Impressions of International Cooperation and Development Set to Light Up Formosa Boulevard, Kaohsiung, December 1-30

As part of yearlong celebrations to mark the hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) is proud to present its newest exhibition, Impressions of International Cooperation and Development, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on show in the atrium at Formosa Boulevard MRT station, Kaohsiung, December 1-30.

The opening ceremony will take place at 10:30, December 3, with TaiwanICDF Secretary General Tao Wen-lung in attendance on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the TaiwanICDF, Timothy C. T. Yang. During the ceremony, an invited group of international guests will place symbolic footprints on a world map to honor the countries in which Taiwan provides foreign assistance.

As the first exhibition organized by the TaiwanICDF in Kaohsiung, Impressions of International Cooperation and Development will provide citizens from southern Taiwan with an opportunity to understand Taiwan's role as a provider of development assistance over the past half-century. The majority of exhibition space is given over to examining Taiwan's continuing contribution toward the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, with eight large-scale displays explaining how the work of the TaiwanICDF has championed each of these eight goals. In addition, a series of light boxes describe the core operations of the TaiwanICDF and explain their place within Taiwan's wider foreign aid policies.

On December 4 and 18, special forums attended by members of the TaiwanICDF Overseas Volunteers Service will highlight the contribution that Taiwanese citizens have made to international cooperation and development. During these public sessions, volunteers will describe their experiences of providing much-needed health care services and Mandarin instruction during periods of overseas service in Panama, the South Pacific and the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, five fun activities will run for the length of December, including face painting and a quiz based on the national flags of TaiwanICDF partner countries. Completing all five activities scores points that can be traded in for limited edition stickers, and will increase public awareness of the development work performed by the TaiwanICDF on Taiwan's behalf.

The TaiwanICDF continues to work in partnership with the international community to build a better world and a brighter future. We cordially invite you to attend Impressions of International Cooperation and Development.
