Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Senate of Belize Visit the TaiwanICDF
Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belize, Hon. Laura Tucker-Longsworth, accompanied by President of the Senate, Hon. Lee Mark Chang and Senator Hon. Stephen A. Duncan visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on June 19, 2018.
TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Timothy T.Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed Hon. Tucker-Longsworth,Hon. Chang and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Belize.
The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the 2018 Healthcare Personnel Training Program, Overseas Professional Mandarin Teaching Project, Belize City House of Culture and Downtown Rejuvenation Project, Belize Motor Vehicle Registration and License System Project, Genetic Improvement in Sheep and Goat Project, and Capacity Building Project for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Renal Failure in Belize. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.
To date, a total of 198 participants from Belize have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s professional workshops, and a total of 245 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
