S.E.M. Antonio Rodrigue, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Haiti, accompanied by two Special Advisors to the president, Mr. Jean Walnard Dorneval and Mr. Charles Jean-Jacques, visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on April 30, 2018.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Timothy T.Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed H.E. Amb. Antonio Rodrigue and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Haiti.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Rice Seed Production Capacity Enhancement Project in Haiti and the Project to Increase Rice Production in Les Cayes, Haiti. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 145 participants from Haiti have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s professional workshops, and a total of 54 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan. To promote Chinese-language education and cultural exchanges, the TaiwanICDF has dispatched one professional Mandarin teacher to Haiti since 2015.
