Project Description:
The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out agricultural technical assistance with Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Agreement of Agricultural Cooperation between the Republic of China Government Represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Government. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include: 1. Understanding and assessing the annual needs of the Saudi partner agencies and formulating the annual work plan; 2. Providing project progress reports and final reports in accordance with project management procedures; 3. Delivering consultancy services based on the key focus areas of the project implementation.

Project Objectives:

Current Progress:
To the March, the following activities have been completed in 2025:
1.Continued applying tissue culture technology to assist Saudi Arabia in germplasm preservation and propagation. Concrete outcomes include the successful cultivation of two endangered date palm varieties, preservation of 50 date palm and 4 potato germplasms, and the establishment of micropropagation techniques for three valuable varieties. The cumulative planting area reached 4.45 hectares, enhancing varietal diversity and development potential of Saudi Arabia’s date palm industry.
2.Trained one Saudi researcher in key tissue culture techniques for essential oil-producing roses, strengthening the foundation for technology transfer and sustainable development.
3.In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, provided 62,100 tissue culture seedlings (including blackberry, strawberry, and essential oil-producing roses) to the Baha branch of the Ministry and private enterprises .
