Project Description:
The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out agricultural technical assistance with Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Agreement of Agricultural Cooperation between the Republic of China Government Represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Government. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include: 1. To investigate the annual needs of Saudi Arabia and to formulate an annual working plan; 2. To provide regular reports; 3. To provide consultancy services according to the implementation priorities. This project focuses on sea bass and pompano cultivation technique development.

Project Objectives:Assist Saudi Arabia in developing marine fish breeding techniques and improving the variety preservation and nursery abilities.

Current Progress:
To the end of December 2023, the following activities have been completed:
1. Evaluate the guidance results of 8 aquaculture farms and related enterprises under the National Fisheries Development Program, as well as the implementation results of 12 scientific and technological research projects, and provide relevant suggestions.
2. Published 3 international journal papers in the name of TaiwanICDF and Saudi MEWA.
3. Technical guidance was provided to 12 units of aquaculture farmers (2 enterprises, 2 technical colleges, and 8 farmers) to produce 4,820 liters of live microalgae to stabilize water quality and optimize nutrition for the growth of fry.
4. Provided technical guidance to 3 aquaculture farmers to produce 35,500 liters of live zooplankton, improving fry survival rate and work income.
5. Assist Saudi MEWA in collecting and organizing aquaculture data on "The Current Status of Cobia Aquaculture in Taiwan", "Filtration Systems for Semi-intensive and Super-intensive Marine Fish Culture", and "Biofloc ", and provide professional suggestions and data analysis results for reference.
