Guatemalan Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Visits the TaiwanICDF

H.E. Dr. Sydney Alexander Samuels Milson, minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Guatemala, and Hon. Carlos Fernando Coronado Castillo, deputy minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on August 2, 2017.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Timothy T. Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed the minister and deputy minister. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Guatemala. A short film produced by the TaiwanICDF on the projects implemented in Central America— GIS for Volcano: Enchancing the Capability in Using Geographic Information Systems in Central America – was presented during the meeting.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Bamboo Industries Project, Institutional enforcement project for agribusiness, Strengthening the Control of Huanglongbing (HLB) and the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Citrus Project, SME Development Project, Regional Lending Program for Coffee Rust in Central America, CABEI-TaiwanICDF Fund for Consulting Service, TaiwanICDF TVET Technical Assistance Fund (TA Fund) and TaiwanICDF-CABEI Technological and Vocational Education and Training Student Loan Fund. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 254 participants from Guatemala have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 103 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
