Honduran National Congress President Visits the TaiwanICDF

H.E. Dr. Mauricio Oliva Herrera, President of the Honduran National Congress visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on July 7, 2017. He was accompanied by congressmen Hon. Mr. José Tomás Zambrano Molina and Hon. Mr. Francisco Javier Paz Laínez, and congresswoman Hon. Ms. Gabriela Núñez Ennabe, along with two other distinguished guests.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Timothy T. Y. Hsiang warmly welcomed H.E. Dr. Mauricio Oliva Herrera and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Honduras. Two short films produced by the TaiwanICDF on the projects implemented in Central America, including in Honduras — Saving the Citrus in Central America 2 and Grant you a dream-TaiwanICDF-CABEI Technological and Vocational Education and Training Student Loan Fund Project – were presented during the meeting and well received by the delegation.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Fonseca Net Cage Aquaculture Project, Healthy Avocado Seedling Production Project, Healthy Seed Potato Production Project, Strengthening the Control of Huanglongbing (HLB) and the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Citrus Project, Regional Lending Program for Coffee Rust in Central America, Capability Enhancement in Using Geographic Information Systems in Central America, TaiwanICDF TVET Technical Assistance Fund (TA Fund), CABEI-TaiwanICDF Fund for Consulting Service, CABEI Special Fund for the Social Transformation of Central America—Social Infrastructure Project—FETS II and TaiwanICDF-CABEI Technological and Vocational Education and Training Student Loan Fund. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.
To date, a total of 274 participants from Honduras have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s professional workshops, and a total of 196 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
