The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President of Policy and Partnerships, Mr. Pierre Heilbronn and Director of the Donor Co-Financing Ms. Camilla Otto visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on June 20, 2017.

TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Dr. Lee Pai-po warmly welcomed Mr. Heilbronn and Ms. Otto. They exchanged views on the cooperation projects between the TaiwanICDF and EBRD.

The TaiwanICDF sponsored the establishment of the EBRD Green Energy Special Fund (GESF) in 2011 to promote utilization of advanced and highly efficient technologies, especially in the municipal infrastructure sector in EBRD’s countries of operation. The Fund is administered by EBRD and to date the GESF has supported LED lighting and solid waste projects in Moldova and Jordan.

Environmental sustainability is now one of the core areas of cooperation between the TaiwanICDF and EBRD, and an MOU on green economy transition was signed last September between the two organizations. For the past few decades, the TaiwanICDF has worked with EBRD on green energy, MSME development, finance, and sustainable environmental projects. The TaiwanICDF will continue to work with EBRD to address important international development issues in order to facilitate development in the countries of central and eastern Europe, central Asia and the south-eastern Mediterranean region.
