A desire to heal

A 68-member Medical Mission (the Mission) departs for Haiti at 23:00 on January 19. The TaiwanICDF contributes NT$4 million in organizing this mission and requires its technical missions based in Haiti and Dominican Republic to provide logistic supporting. The Mission is grouped with TaiwanICDF staff and medical personnel from Taiwanroot Medical Peace Corps. Three Haitians currently studying medicine, at Taipei Medical University, Kaohsiung Medical University and the National Yang-Ming University under the TaiwanICDF’s International Higher Education Scholarship Program, join the Mission as well. The Mission will focus on providing emergency care to Haitian.
The Mission is due to arrive in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic at 13:00 local time on January 20. From there, a convoy is scheduled to leave immediately for the Dominican border with Haiti, where the Mission will establish its field hospital.
