Delegation from St. Vincent and the Grenadines Visits TaiwanICDF

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural Transformation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Hon. Saboto Caesar and Minister of Economic Planning, Sustainable Development, Industry, Information and Labour Hon. Camillo Gonsalves led a six-member delegation to visit the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on May 2, 2017.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V. B. Shih warmly welcomed the honorable guests and exchanged views with Hon. Saboto Caesar and Hon. Camillo Gonsalves on the TaiwanICDF‘s cooperation projects in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Having served as Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and befriended Hon. Saboto Caesar and Hon. Camillo Gonsalves before taking the role as Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF, Amb. Weber V.B. Shih was especially pleased to see them again.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in St. Vincent and the Grenadines include the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) project, the Project for Strengthening Farmers’ Organizations and Improving Fruit and Vegetable Production Technology, and the Microcredit Project—Phase II. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 150 participants from St. Vincent and the Grenadines have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 35 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.

To promote Chinese-language education and cultural exchanges, the TaiwanICDF dispatched one professional Mandarin teacher to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who has been teaching at the Community College (Villa campus) since July 2014.
