Delegation from Solomon Islands visits the TaiwanICDF

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs of Solomon Islands H.E. Manasseh Maelanga, accompanied by Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology Hon. Samuel Manetoali, Minister of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace Hon. Samson Maneka, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs Hon. William Bradford Marau, Minister of Forestry and Research Hon. Christopher Laore, Minister of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening Hon. David Tome, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Andrew Manepora’a, Member of Parliament Hon. Augustine Auga, Acting Director of Solomon Islands Meteorological Service, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology Mr. Lloyd Tahani, Assistant Executive Person Secretary to Prime Minister Mr. Nixon Osiniu and Senior Protocol Officer of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Mr. Kennedy Gwao visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on April 25, 2017.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed the honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Solomon Islands.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include Vegetable and Fruit Improvement Project, Integrated Hog-raising Project, Food Crop Improvement Project and Census and Classification of Plant Resources in the Solomon Islands. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 149 participants from Solomon Islands have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops and a total of 38 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
