Project Description：

Disastrous earthquakes struck Nepal in April and May, 2015, which have had a massive impact on the livelihoods and food security of affected communities where agriculture and livestock are the main source of livelihoods. To respond the post-disaster recovery, the TaiwanICDF worked with CARE Nepal on Gorkha Food Security and Livelihoods Support Program from December 2015 to November 2016. To continue assisting the earthquake-affected households in Gorkha, this project was launched to further enhance their food Security and livelihoods.
Overall, this project will:
1. Increase food security from sustainable agro-based livelihoods through capacity building of poor, vulnerable and socially excluded (PVSE) farmers and relevant local institutions.
2. Enhance commercialization in agriculture in the earthquake affected communities, particularly PVSE, through capacity development, increased engagement in value chain, and better access to markets.
3. Enhance entrepreneurship in the earthquake affected communities, particularly PVSE through capacity development and access to finance and market.

Executing Agency：CARE Nepal

Implementation Arrangement：The TaiwanICDF dispatched a short-term horticulture expert and a volunteer to assist in the implementation of the project; CARE Nepal provides technical and management oversight, assists in reviewing the project proposal and producing reports and implements the proposed activities, liaises with local government offices and local NGO.
