Minister of Information, Communication, Transport and Tourism Development of Kiribati Visits the TaiwanICDF

Minister of Information, Communication, Transport and Tourism Development of the Republic of Kiribati Hon. Willie Tokataake and Assistant Secretary Mr. Matea Nauto Tekaiara visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on November 16, 2016.

TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Dr. Lee Pai-po warmly welcomed Minister Willie Tokataake and Assistant Secretary Mr. Matea Nauto Tekaiara. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in the Republic of Kiribati.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Nutrition Enhancement Project, the Aquaculture Project, the Pig rearing Project, the Repair and Upgrade of Bonriki International Airport project and the 2016 Healthcare Personnel Training Program. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.
To date, a total of 75 participants from Kiribati have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, a total of 24 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan, and another nine students have joined the TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific.
