Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance H.E. Maatia Toafa and Madame Pulafagu Toafa led a five-member delegation to visit the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on October 28, 2016.

TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Dr. Lee Pai-po warmly welcomed H.E. Maatia Toafa and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF’s cooperation projects in Tuvalu.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Horticulture Expansion Project and 2016 Healthcare Personnel Training Program. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.

To date, a total of 90 participants from Tuvalu have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, a total of 11 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan, and another five students have joined the TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific.
