Permanent Representatives to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Vienna Visit TaiwanICDF

Permanent Representative of the Republic of Guatemala to the United Nations Office in Vienna Amb. Antonio Roberto Castellanos Lopez and Mrs. Vera T. Borstcheff de Castellanos, along with Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations Office in Vienna Amb. Ramón Andrés Quiñones Rodríguez and Mrs. Fatimah Sheechah Maria Zwanikken visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on May 31, 2016.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed the honorable guests and exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF‘s core mission and important cooperation projects in both countries.

The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in Guatemala include the Bamboo Industries Project, the Strengthening the Control of Huanglongbing (HLB) and the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Citrus Project, the SME Development Project (Guatemala), and the Institutional Enforcement Project for Agribusiness in Guatemala. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of certain projects.

To date, a total of 228 participants from Guatemala have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 97 Guatemalan students have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.

In the Dominican Republic, ongoing projects of the TaiwanICDF include the Strengthening the Control of Huanglongbing (HLB) and the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Citrus Project, the Bamboo Industry Development Project, and the Health Management of Greenhouse Vegetables and Product Safety Inspection Project in the Dominican Republic. As well, under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of certain projects.

To date, a total of 222 participants from Dominica have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 15 Dominican students have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
