President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands H.E. Dr. Hilda C. Heine led an eleven-member delegation to visit the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on May 19, 2016.
TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed President H.E. Dr. Hilda C. Heine, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. John M. Silk, and the other honorable guests. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF‘s cooperation projects in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The TaiwanICDF’s ongoing projects in the country include the Horticulture Project, the Livestock Project and the Micro Credit Scheme. Under the scheme of the Taiwan Youth Overseas Service program, the TaiwanICDF also dispatches servicemen to assist with the implementation of projects.
To date, a total of 80 participants from Marshall Islands have received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, a total of 10 students from the country have received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan, and another 11 students have joined the TaiwanICDF’s Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific.
