TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed the honorable guests and exchanged views with Hon. The TaiwanICDF‘s Healthcare Personnel Training Program provides medical personnel from partner countries with one to three months of on-the-job training in Taiwan, enhancing their knowledge and experience, and thereby improving the quality of health care in partner countries. To date, the TaiwanICDF has hosted six participants from Papua New Guinea.

Besides medical personnel training, a total of 68 participants from Papua New Guinea received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and two PNG students received International Higher Education Scholarships, which include one studying for a Ph.D. degree in Tropical Agriculture and International Cooperation in Taiwan.

In regards to technical cooperation with Papua New Guinea, the TaiwanICDF carries out the Farmers Training Cooperation Project in the country, which aims to improve the production skills of local farmers so as to enhance crop quality and increase farmers’ income, hoping to strengthen agricultural development, as part of the 2050 national development goals announced by the PNG government.
