Minister of Health of Honduras Edna Yolani Batres Visits TaiwanICDF
Minister of Health of Honduras Edna Yolani Batres and Director of San Felipe General Hospital Edwin Cruz visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on March 22, 2016.
TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed the honorable guests and exchanged views with Ms. Edna Yolani Batres on the TaiwanICDF‘s Healthcare Personnel Training Program and other cooperation projects in Honduras.
The TaiwanICDF‘s Healthcare Personnel Training Program provides medical personnel from partner countries with one to three months of on-the-job training in Taiwan, enhancing their knowledge and experience, and thereby improving the quality of health care in partner countries. To date, the TaiwanICDF has hosted six participants from Honduras.
Besides medical personnel training, a total of 264 participants from Honduras received training from the TaiwanICDF’s Professional Workshops, and a total of 170 Honduras students received International Higher Education Scholarships and studied in Taiwan.
The TaiwanICDF’s other ongoing projects in the country include the Healthy Seed Potato Production Project, the Healthy Avocado Seedling Production Project, and other regional projects including the Strengthening the Control of Huanglongbing (HLB) and the Implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Citrus Project, the TaiwanICDF-CABEI Technological and Vocational Education and Training Student Loan Fund, the Regional Lending Program for Coffee Rust in Central America, and the Capability Enhancement in Using Geographic Information Systems in Central America.
