Secretary General of the International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) and former Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme visited the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) on December 31, 2015.

TaiwanICDF Secretary General Amb. Weber V.B. Shih warmly welcomed Mr. Leterme. They exchanged views on the TaiwanICDF‘s projects, and especially those in the Asia-Pacific region.

This year, the TaiwanICDF launched several bilateral projects in the Asia-Pacific region, including an Integrated Hog-raising Project in the Solomon Islands, a project on Strengthening Incubator Agribusiness with Human Resources Development in Bandung, Horticulture and Livestock Projects in Marshall Islands, an Egg Production Project and a Vegetable Production and Nutrition Enhancement Project in Nauru, and a Vegetable Production, Marketing Extension and Capacity Building Project in Fiji.

The TaiwanICDF is also cooperating with World Vision International Nepal (WVIN) and CARE Nepal on humanitarian projects in Nepal (Assisting the Recovery of Nepal Earthquake Affected Health Posts Project and Gorkha Food Security and Livelihoods Support Program). It is believed that joint implementation of these projects through the integration of resources will generate a greater and more positive impact on providing recovery assistance in the aftermath of natural disasters.
