TaiwanICDF and Workforce Development Agency’s Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch to Hold Closing Ceremony for 2014 Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific

The TaiwanICDF, under the commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has this year been cooperating with the Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch of the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency on its 2014 Vocational Training Project for Youth in the Pacific. Since getting under way on October 2, the program has seen 22 young people from five Pacific partner countries – Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau and the Solomon Islands – gaining core know-how and skills in four courses covering electrical and plumbing services, automotive mechanics, computer software and network applications, and refrigeration and air conditioning. To raise these young participants’ basic understanding and preparedness, guidance on youth entrepreneurship has also been provided throughout the training period as part of basic business management courses and a common curriculum, in the hope of enhancing competitiveness in terms of employability.

After nearly three months of intensive training in Taiwan, the 22 trainees have been deeply impressed by Taiwan’s professional and vocational training programs, and have said that the project’s lengthy teaching hours have allowed them to acquire extensive skills and knowledge. The closing ceremony and accomplishment presentation for the training project, due to take place on the morning of Thursday, December 26 at the Workforce Development Agency’s Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch in Taichung, will be attended by the diplomatic representatives of the five Pacific partner countries involved in the program, celebrating the project’s achievements and allowing participants to share the results of their training in Taiwan.
