To promote intercollegiate exchange between scholarship students at member universities of the Taiwan International Cooperation Alliance (TICA), the TaiwanICDF has been organizing the TICA Cup every year since 2007 in the hope that recreational and sporting events can build mutual friendships, teamwork and solidarity among those studying in Taiwan.

For the eighth TICA Cup, which will get under way on November 22, the TaiwanICDF has teamed up with National Chung Cheng University to organize the event. The opening ceremony, which will be hosted by TaiwanICDF Deputy Secretary General Dr. Lee Pai-po and NCCU President Dr. Wu Jyh-yang, will see around 400 overseas students from 21 TICA universities in attendance.

Activities at this year’s cup will include an orienteering competition, a torch relay and a “pass-the-pineapple” race. Overseas students will also be encouraged to show off their creativity and the culture of their home countries through a special show at which participants will wear traditional or national dress, or take a creative approach to bringing a costume to the runway. These events will demonstrate the team spirit and multiculturalism of students at TICA schools, as well as promote physical exercise and relieve some of the pressure caused by their busy academic lives.
