Project Name:Mobile Medical Mission(Budgets from MOFA)

    Project status:Completed projects

Cooperating Country:Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu

    Project Description:

The TaiwanICDF is the dedicated international development organization representing the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Supporting and developing the medicine and health care within our partner countries is one of our core objectives. To realize this objective, our organization plays the role of “facilitator.” Taiwan’s health care sector is among the best in the world, and our organization draws on this comparative advantage when providing official development assistance.
Specifically, a great deal of our medical support is organized in cooperation with the International Healthcare Strategic Alliance — the IHCSA. The IHSCA is a coalition comprising the TaiwanICDF and 37 Taiwanese hospitals and medical institutions, including Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Together, the TaiwanICDF and the IHCSA provide partner countries with a range of short- and long-term medical support.

    Project No:HAD01-2011-004

    Region:Asia-Pacific

    Implementation Start Date:2011-01-01

    Implementation End Date:2011-12-31

    Source of Funding:MOFA

Project Objectives:Mobile Medical Missions are a key part of this strategy. Since 2006, we have organized more than 80 Mobile Medical Missions in cooperation with the IHCSA, stationing temporary clinics in urban and rural communities in partner countries across the world. The Taiwanese doctors and medical personnel who work for these missions don’t “just” treat patients — they also work with local medical professionals, offering clinical training, demonstrations, and technical exchanges. This approach helps to boost medical human resources in the long-term, at a local level. In 2011, TaiwanICDF will organize 16 Mobile Medical Missions to partner countries to provide medical survices(12 MMMs' budgets from MOFA, and 4 from TaiwanICDF ).

Executing Agency:The TaiwanICDF and the 37 allied hospitals from the International Healthcare Cooperation Strategic Alliance (IHCSA)

Implementation Arrangement:Outreach Clinic Service: This service combines the knowledge and expertise of doctors, nurses and pharmacists. It also serves the local populations through our mobile clinics.
Health Education Campaign: The Mobile Medical Missions implement special projects directed at contagious diseases utilizing the pillars of education, prevention and therapy to halt the spread of these diseases.

Project Performance:The Mobile Medical Mission not only provides immediate medical aid, but also works in an efficient way that is low cost. The Mobile Medical Mission’s efforts touch deep into areas far from urban centers and win the praise of local citizens. This provides a positive image for Taiwan’s participation in global medical assistance work and illustrates Taiwan’s determination to join the global sociality.
