TaiwanICDF to hold first Workshop on Sustainable Transport Development

In response to the international community’s push to develop green transport, to implement energy and carbon reduction targets, to mitigate the impact of national development upon transport infrastructure and to promote effective public transport, the TaiwanICDF will hold its first Workshop on Sustainable Transport Development from July 31 to August 13.

Due to be attended by about 30 high-level personnel from government departments, public bodies or research institutes who are responsible for planning or implementing development in the transport sector within the TaiwanICDF’s developing partner countries, the workshop will provide an understanding of the policy planning and practical operational circumstances underpinning the development of sustainable transport in Taiwan, thereby improving participants’ ability to plan for and appraise transport-related policies or projects, and serving as a reference for such activities when they return home.

Through its use of transport resources, sophisticated transport technologies and reforms to traffic management systems, sustainable transport is an important feature of many nations’ sustainable development at present, promoting a means of meeting the current generation’s transport needs without jeopardizing the needs of future generations, and effectively reducing resource consumption while also improving quality of life.
