To assist St. Lucia and Belize to establish information security management systems and improve management standards, the TaiwanICDF will shortly be helping these two countries to introduce ISO 27001 international standards for information security management alongside information security education and training, improving both governments’ information security training and development capacity, and, through consulting services and technical assistance, guiding the two countries toward authenticating and obtaining certification to ISO 27001 standards.

During the first phase running from August 1 to 30, the TaiwanICDF will dispatch information security experts to St. Lucia and Belize to carry out education and training, with topics to cover themes such as attacks, malware and other threats; internet framework security; security policy and management; operational security, business continuity and disaster recovery standard operating procedures; and the establishment of legal regulations. A range of briefings, hands-on exercises, case studies and other interactive approaches will be employed to instill key security concepts into the 60 personnel due to participate.

During the second phase running from September, a senior Taiwanese expert specializing in ISO 27001 standards will visit St. Lucia and Belize to provide guidance on risk assessment, planning and investigation, and the establishment of information security quality control documents and information security management systems. This will not only facilitate exchange with those working in information security within these two countries, but also stimulate their two governments to put more robust contingency measures and legal regulations into place, thereby promoting further opportunities for ICT-related technical cooperation with Taiwan in the future.
