Project Description:
This project will provide training in food processing techniques and promote ICT education. The purpose of the project is to facilitate development in Ecuador by providing guidance to the food processing industry and reducing the digital divide.
Overall, this project will:
- Facilitate the implementation of a food processing sub-project.
- Facilitate the implementation of an ICT education sub-project.

Project Objectives:
The objectives of this project are:
- Hold four food processing training sessions and train seed teachers.
- Provide guidance on agro-processing techniques and quality control, cooperating with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP) to hold one promotional session for 160 participants.
- Hold two ICT training sessions to improve ICT technicians’ techniques.
- Hold basic computer courses for 2,877 students.
- Transfer techniques associated with the project.

Current Progress:
To the end of June 2012, the following activities have been completed:
- Finished trial sales of wheel pie.
- Finished training sessions for students of the Ecuadorian Federation of Peasant Organizations (Federación Ecuatoriana de Organizaciones Campesinas, FENOC) and provided assistance toward Saturday adult computer education courses in Colegio Menor.
- Finished editing the proposed project handover schedule.
Projected Benefits:
- Three sessions to promote food processing will be held for the benefit of famers and women’s groups.
- Four technicians will receive training on intermediate-level JAVA programing techniques; a six-day ITIL session will be held for the benefit of 20 participants.
- Basic computer courses will be organized for the benefit of 2,877 students.
