Project Description：

The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out agricultural technical assistance with Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Agreement of Agricultural Cooperation between the Republic of China Government Represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Government. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include: 1. Understanding and assessing the annual needs of the Saudi partner agencies and formulating the annual work plan; 2. Providing project progress reports and final reports in accordance with project management procedures; 3. Delivering consultancy services based on the key focus areas of the project implementation.

Current Progress：

Major Achievements Completed as of June 2026

1.        Enhancement of Aquaculture Broodstock Conservation and Seed Production Capacity

To improve aquaculture productivity in Saudi Arabia, the project continued to strengthen broodstock conservation and seed production capacity for target species through farm assessments and technical advisory services, the development of aquaculture operation and management manuals, as well as data collection, analysis, technology extension, and consultation services.

As of June 2026, the project continued to provide assessment and advisory services to the six aquaculture farms under the National Fisheries Development Program. In addition, 13 consultation services were delivered to public and private sectors. The project also assisted partner institutions in completing one site selection and environmental assessment for the proposed Regional Center for Sustainable Development of Fisheries, laying an important foundation for future fisheries development and regional

2.        Aquaculture Consultancy Services

To advance the development of Saudi Arabia’s aquaculture industry, the project continued to provide technical and policy consultancy services to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA). Areas of support included policy development, scientific research, market development, and technology extension, contributing to the enhancement of overall industry capacity and competitiveness.

As of June 2026, the project had completed four research project evaluations, coordinated seven market development initiatives, and delivered 32 consultancy services. In addition, the project actively promoted international scientific collaboration by partnering with MEWA and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to publish research findings in international scientific and technology publications. To date, three scientific papers have been published, demonstrating the achievements and research capabilities generated through Taiwan-Saudi Arabia cooperation in the aquaculture sector.
