Project Description:
The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out agricultural technical assistance with Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Agreement of Agricultural Cooperation between the Republic of China Government Represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Government. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include: 1. Understanding and assessing the annual needs of the Saudi partner agencies and formulating the annual work plan; 2. Providing project progress reports and final reports in accordance with project management procedures; 3. Delivering consultancy services based on the key focus areas of the project implementation.

Current Progress:
As of December 2025, the following activities have been completed:
1. Continued application of plant tissue culture techniques to support the conservation and propagation of crop varieties in Saudi Arabia. Tangible achievements included the propagation of two endangered date palm varieties, the conservation of 50 date palm germplasm accessions and four potato germplasm accessions, as well as the training of Saudi researchers in tissue culture techniques for essential oil roses, thereby ensuring crop diversification and genetic diversity in Saudi Arabia.
2. Ongoing provision of tissue-cultured seedlings required by agricultural research, experimentation, and extension institutions. During the previous year, a total of 135,350 tissue-cultured plantlets—including blackberry, strawberry, essential oil rose, banana, and potato—were supplied to the Ministry of Agriculture, schools, and associations, effectively strengthening local research capacity and technical capability.
