Project Description:
The Republic of China dispatches consultants to the resident Taiwan Technical Mission to carry out agricultural technical assistance with Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Agreement of Agricultural Cooperation between the Republic of China Government Represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian Government. The main tasks of the technical consultants of Taiwan Technical Mission include: 1. Understanding and assessing the annual needs of the Saudi partner agencies and formulating the annual work plan; 2. Providing project progress reports and final reports in accordance with project management procedures; 3. Delivering consultancy services based on the key focus areas of the project implementation.

Project Objectives:
1. Understanding and assessing the annual needs of the Saudi partner agencies and formulating the annual work plan.

Current Progress:
As of June 2025, the following activities have been completed:
1. Evaluated six aquaculture farms and five research projects under Saudi Arabia’s Fisheries Development Program.
2. Assisted in organizing a seminar on high-efficiency intensive recirculating aquaculture systems, and provided technical guidance to demonstration farmers on tilapia broodstock selection, pond design, application of alternative feeds for freshwater catfish, and disease prevention, thereby enhancing local technical application and operational capacity.
3. Presented two research papers at the World Aquaculture Society’s U.S. Chapter Annual Meeting (online), with the results featured on the March cover of World Aquaculture Magazine, highlighting the successful academic and practical collaboration between Taiwan and Saudi Arabia.
4.Continued to provide technical assistance to the aquaculture facility operated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and offered professional recommendations on its operational planning and production processes.

Projected Benefits:
1.Assisted in the development of marine fish farming techniques in Saudi Arabia, enhancing the country’s capabilities in broodstock conservation and seedling production for target species.
2.Supported the development of Saudi Arabia’s aquaculture industry, contributing to policy formulation, academic research, market development, and technology extension efforts.
