Current Progress:
As of March 2026, the following activities have been completed:
1. Key achievements include the evaluation of two aquaculture farms and one research project under Saudi Arabia’s fisheries development program; assistance to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) of Saudi Arabia in site selection and environmental condition assessment for a “Regional Sustainable Fisheries Center”; and the provision of an equipment list required for an indoor closed recirculating filtration system as a reference for facility establishment. In addition, a supply–demand chain survey of freshwater fish in the Jeddah region of western Saudi Arabia was conducted to assess local market conditions. Based on the findings, it was recommended that aquaculture extension households in the Khalidiyah area develop tilapia farming and expand stocking scale to enhance production efficiency and promote industry development.
2. In January, in coordination with the Representative Office, assistance was provided to Taiwanese feed equipment manufacturers to participate in a fisheries exhibition in Saudi Arabia. During the exhibition, exchanges were conducted with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) and other relevant entities to promote business opportunities for Taiwan. Furthermore, recommendations were provided to a tilapia hatchery under the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regarding improvements in egg hatching rates and farm management, thereby strengthening local aquaculture technical capacity and promoting the development of international industry cooperation.
