Introduction
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted the socio-economic development of developing countries, with a disproportionate impact on vulnerable women and youth and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME). Thus, to assist the diplomatic allies of Taiwan in Latin America and the Caribbean with post-pandemic economic recovery and support local women improve their socio-economic empowerment, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) was commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement the "Assisting the Economic Empowerment of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean in the Post COVID-19 Era" Project. This project is the first regional development project of the TaiwanICDF which focuses on women's empowerment. It is also adopting different innovative aspects and tools, including "Technical Assistance," "Education and Training," and "Financial Credit Guarantee ". This project provides women with vocational training to enhance their employment skills, entrepreneurial incubation, and business operation guidance services are also given to assist women in establishing their micro and small businesses.
In order to share the achievement of this project with the public, TaiwanICDF plans to hold the "Empower Women! Empower LAC!" forum and exhibition at the Grand Victoria Hotel in Taipei on February 15, which invites government representatives from our allied countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, women beneficiaries of the project, and representatives of financial institution partners to Taiwan to participate this event, which create the opportunities to exchange opinions and ideas between representatives from government and non-governmental organizations related to women empowerment field in Taiwan.
